Meet Our Newest Member - The Parrot ANAFI Ai drone

Updated: Jun 6, 2022

We will soon take delivery of a new commercial drone to accompany our existing Phantom 4 Pro drone.

The Parrot ANAFI Ai drone was unveiled in December of 2021 and was made available in January this year, however due to the conflict in the Ukraine and the use of drones by the Ukrainian forces, stocks are very limited.

The Parrot ANAFI Ai is the first drone to offer an additional capability of a 4G connection between the controller and the drone alongside the usual 2.4 and 5GHz WiFi connections that other drones use. The 4G connection through its greater resilience to interference from metal structures, TV and Mobile phone towers when compared to the WiFi connection which will provide us peace of mind and a safer flight. The drone is also capable of autonomously using obstacle avoidance to adapt its flight in complex environments.

The 4G connection allows the pilot a choice as to whether to upload photos in flight when on photogrammetry or mapping missions allowing the processing of the models to start as soon as possible rather than waiting for the mission to be completed and the photos manually transferred to a computer for uploading to a cloud service such as Pix4D.

Security was a big factor in why we chose to go with Parrot. The drone has been designed with cybersecurity in mind. The link between the drone and the pilot's device is secured by Parrot ANAFI Ai’s embedded Secure Element, offering each drone a unique ID. The Secure Element also assures the privacy of data transferred and protects the integrity of the drone software.

The 48MP Camera can offer 4K 60 fps video with a 6x Zoom. The ANAFI Ai drone encrypts all photos and videos stored on its SD card, using an AES-XTS algorithm with a 512-bit key length. Once encrypted, data can only be read with an encryption key. This ensures sensitive data cannot be accessed if your drone falls into the wrong hands.

Flight logs (eg. flight location and flight date) are part of the sensitive data collected by the drones. Parrot’s privacy features and policies are fully compliant with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We look forward to deploying the Parrot ANAFI on our missions in the near future.
