As the Oxford Bike Ride draws closer, a surge of excitement and determination fuels our training. In our previous blogs, you met the incredible team spirit behind this challenge and the generous support from BMR Newbury and Velospeed. Today, we focus on the heart of our motivation – raising awareness and vital funds for a special little fighter still waiting to enter the world.
A Reason to Ride: Baby Thomas
We're riding for families like our dear friends who received news that their unborn son, Thomas, has been diagnosed with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) whilst still in the womb. Thankfully, early scans indicate Thomas may be in the moderate-risk group. However, the journey ahead for him and his family will undoubtedly be filled with challenges.
Our Fundraising Goal
With every pedal stroke, we aim to raise £5,000 for Christina and Joseph and for CDH UK. These funds will support the family with the greater portion of the money going towards their expenses ( commuting to London, accommodation, flying a family member into the UK for support etc.) If we can ease the financial pressure just a little bit, they can focus on the family and their health and recovery.
